Chaos & Order

nblab_ramble
In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order. —Carl Jung

That quote sums up my life quite nicely.

The kiddos went back to school this week (after Spring Break last week) and then we got hit with a blizzard and no school yesterday or today. I'm itching to get back to making and doing and sewing and creating, but am faced with entertaining kids since I don't like them endlessly vegging out in front of the tube. My blog is becoming quite boring, I fear. There's always next week....

Awesome find!

nblab_newproject

In an effort to make more room in my nice new office space, I got rid of a couple pieces of large furniture. I was trying to keep things simple, but can always use more shelves. I found this awesome vintage wood (not particle board!) bookcase at Goodwill for only $10! The outside is painted black lacquer (perfect, with that shabby chic look to it) and the inside shelves are painted light green with gold trim accents. If my office wasn't pink, I would probably just leave it as is. I think I'll paint the inside shelves with the leftover paint to match my walls. When? Who knows, but this is now on the To Do List.

Weiner Sweater!

nblab_newproject I actually did this project a few weeks ago, before I started this blog. But, since I've been so wrapped up in the office redecoration project and Girl Scout Cookie sales (and not posting much here), I thought I would go ahead and include it.

This started out as a little boy's sweater purchased for $1.00 from one of my favorite thrift stores. I carefully removed the sleeves by snipping threads. Next, I serged a seam up each side to get the fit just right. Super easy project that was completed in about a half hour! Bonus: Haggis likes it!

Oh, I just roll the bottom edge up when we go for a walk ;)
